Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
25K for a lemans?? No way would I pay that, especially since the economic problems are dropping prices of cars all over the place. Have you checked Craigs List lately? I have been seeing nice stuff go very reasonable. Seen quite a few real GTOs on there too. If you love the car then whatever you pay is fine because it's what you want, but in marketplace terms hes way too high. Very nice truck BTW.

Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
There are a lot of good opinions here. Some good.. some bad. To me a clone is just that.. a clone. A lot of times when guys want to trade a car like this it's because they can't get what they want from it.. therefore the next best thing to do ir trade.. so it's not a total loss. Ask me how I know. If it were a real gto judge.. he'd laugh at the thought of trading the truck for it.. Your truck as nice as it is would not be comparable to a real one.. even if the car was in lesser condition to what it is now.
For the folks that say clones bring high dollars.. where? I myself don't know too many people that buy clones.. but I guess.. Just like everything else.. there's a market for them. Also he knows there is more value in your truck. If this was what I wanted, I would find one cheap ( as a few have mentioned) and build it myself.. rather than give up an original with more value in it. I'm sorry, but I'd pass. I myself have done deals like this and you really do end up on the short end of the stick when you go to sell it.. Because it is a clone, you'll be trying to panhandle it onto someone else.. unless you find that special buyer that does not care.. and they are 1-1000. Nice car, but pass. Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
I just voted and see that the majority is NO. The guys that voted yes are youngsters.. and don't know anything. As the builder of one of these cars.. you really do take a hit in the wallet because you don't get back what you put into it. That can be said with any car though.. but especially with clones. For a while, I bought a lot of these types of cars.. and dumped a lot of money into them to find that really regretted in the end.

Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
Man, even my 5year old boy is saying keep the truck. I think what i'll do is wait until my boy's older and we can find a nice project to do together and i'll let him have it, like my dad did with me. I'll just keep the truck. By the way, this has been a pretty good topic at work also. And the results at work are almost identical as they are here.

Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
I understand both sides and have no problem with a clone...however, for that chunk of change it should have the Goat motor or at least a good clone of it.
And yes...they do bring insane cash at auctions these days...who'da thunk it?

Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
I have a 1973 roadrunner clone, and I can tell you that you have to have everything right on cars like these,or it will look stupid to everyone that you show it to. If it didn't have that bumper on it,maybe. He has done some things to the outside, because lemans had the ugliest front nose in the world.I used to know a guy that had a 70 lemans T-37,bad car,but ugly. For example, with my roadrunner,If I didn't have the hood scoops,or the dash,It could not even be a clone,it would just be a satellite. You have to get everything right...EVERYTHING. Otherwise,it won't be worth anything. And I wouldn't give him 24,000 for anytime, unless it started life as a T-37,they are getting a market niche, and I think they are worth money.Take it from a guy who eats, and sleeps muscle cars, its not worth it.Im just starting messing with the trucks. Theres my 2 cents, and if you want a Goat, you probably can get one with your truck.Got to remember, people with big collections sometimes need parts and what not,and they want something classic to get them with to go with their collection,so I guarantee someone will want it.And alot of people like that bodysyle.

Re: thinking about trading for a judge clone
SInce you ARE asking for opinions.......If it was a '64 or '65....I'd look at it a little harder but I just don't like those body styles. When I moved to central OR, I brought my '68 BBC Camaro project and my '68 swb. Wound up selling the Camaro becasue this town is FULL OF MUSCLE CARS. I've only seem one or two SW's and they turn down side roads when they see my truck coming!
