Going to buy a four link kit.

Looking at a few suppliers of four link kits for my 55 chevy big window truck. This will be my first four link install and have some questions. 1. Best kit for the buck. 2. Panhard bar or diagonal trac link? Going with coilover shocks, c notch and using a 10 bolt camaro rearend. Most kits i have looked at only offer the trac link if using a 10 or 12 bolt rearend. Is there a problem welding panhard bar to axle housing?

Re: Going to buy a four link kit.

1. Best kit for the buck.... Look for a kit built with DOM tubing & rubber or urathane bushing ends that use at least 5/8" attach bolts 2. Panhard bar or diagonal trac link?.... panhard bar will handle more side load. The diagonal bar is typicly used on drag cars, intended for strait line with minimal turns (minimal side loads). Personaly I like the triangulated 4 links. They are strong & keep the rear end centered through out the up/ down travel, allowing closer clearances between tire & chassis / body Going with coilover shocks, c notch and using a 10 bolt camaro rearend. Most kits i have looked at only offer the trac link if using a 10 or 12 bolt rearend..... I would suggest swaping to a ford 9", for obvious reasons. (or chrysler 8 3/4) If your going to the work & expence of setting up a new rear suspension, now's the time to upgrade. Is there a problem welding panhard bar to axle housing?.... As long as its not the "cast" center section. You don't want to weld on "cast" housing, wont work. Just my 2 cents worth
