1978 Chevy Big 10 wipers

Hello,
I'm new to trucks, this is my first one. I haven't driven a car this old for a while, so when the wipers didn't park in the home position when I turned them off, I just thought it was because they were not made to.
I now think that is wrong (I'm sure you all new this). My truck didn't have intermittent position, so I bought (on ebay) an intermittent switch with the module. After swiping the switches etc, the wipers work, the washer works, but in intermittent the wipers work just like slow (position 1) on my old switch. The wipers still do not park by the cowling either. I thought maybe the switch from ebay was bad but now I think the intermittent doesn't work because the wipers don't/didn't park at the home position before? I could use some help on this. Would cleaning the contacts resolve it, or is there some other reason the wipers don't park (no matter which switch I use) and so the intermittent function doesn't work. Sorry this is so long.
Thanks everyone.
Dave

Welcome to the site.

You may want to check if they have been removed and put back in the wrong position, or do they just stop when you turn them off?

if it wasnt an intermittent wiper to begin with, it wont be with a switch change.

and by wont "park" you mean they never turn off? or just stop where ever you turn the switch off at? on my 77 big ten they shut off occasionally right where they are, and other times go back to the off position.

Re: 1978 Chevy Big 10 wipers

The wipers stop always when I turn them off. They always stop where they are. Never go to "home"

So, if the switch/module swap won't make my wipers intermittent, what will?

How do I get my wipers to stop at "home" when I shut them off?

Thanks, you geniuses.

The park circuit is shot inside the motor. You'll have to replace the motor to correct it.

Re: 1978 Chevy Big 10 wipers

Could the contacts for the park circuit be bad on the switch or dirty?
I'd like to be sure I can't salvage what I have before I look for a pause wiper motor (unless that is the only way I can get the intermittent to work).

The park circuit is what tells the motor to return the wipers "home". That's inside the motor--hence the need to replace the motor.

Okay, a new motor then.
Where can I get the correct one that will work in intermittent? I replaced both the module and switch.
On a side note, is there any secrect to removing the interior door panel on my truck. It's the hard plastic variety. After loosening the screws, it didn't seem to come away from the door frame at all.
Window crank I have to take the cover (little aluminum one in body of crank) off to access retaining clip etc?
Thanks again.
