Need a carb picture
Hi all.
I just rebuilt the carb on my 77 Chevy 350. I was wondering if this part was normal. On the side of it, its stamped "Quadrajet Manufactured by Carter for GMC." I dont remember what rebuild kit I got but it was for a rochester and it installed fine. Runs fairly good too. Problem is the previous owner axed many vaccumm lines and the ac and emissions. Does anyone have a picture of where these lines are supposed to go, and what they are for ? I dont need the ac. Theres 3 or 4 lines that are plugged with tubes and I know at least ones supposed to go to the valve on the air cleaner that controls air comming in. Thanks |

i just yank out all the emissions, the only 2 i have on my carb is the PCV hose that runs off the large vacc port on the front.. the vacc advance for the carb which plugs into the small vacc port on the front driver side of the carb. other than that the only other vacc lines i have are the 2 converter lock up things on the firewall.. but the are run off the manifold not carb.

The vacuum line wiring diagram should be near the hood latch. Its the emissions sticker. If you dont have that. Try getting a hold of swervin, he and I both have the 1904 Edelbrock. The only difference is I dont know where my instructions are He posted a scan one time that detailed each port on the carb and read where it should go (in general, but youll be able to figure it out). Ill look around when I get home for the paper im talking about. If I cant find it and swervin doesnt post Ill try to get you something. Email me in a few days if you hear nothing on here. Ohh yeah the 1904 is very similar to the stock q-jets, ports are the same or very close.

carb
Carter did them from time to time for GM when demand was beyond what rochester could do. DAVE
trivia = what other engine & manufacturer used quadrajets? (besides other GM makes) the winner gets an NOS convertible top for a chevy suburban with optional deep tinted plastic windows ;-)

DOMESTIC for god's sake , don't make me come over there. :-)
remember we use their parts , they don't use ours, that s the way fair trade agreement works. man i hope someone gets it soon this convertible top is taking up a lot of room in my 200' x 400' heated dream garage.
