http://members.cox.net/rgore15 anyhow, i was planning on replacing the engine this summer, but since i dont have a job yet, it looks like i wont have the money to replace it with what i want to yet. so i'll end up spending what i do get from the job i'll hopefully get sometime soon and just do lots of other stuff. but that depends on how badly my engine's condition is, but i wont know that for a day or two |

SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN. I'LL HAVE TO CHECK OUT YOUR WEBSITE. MY OLD 305 WAS THE ENGINE FROM HELL. IT MADE ALL KIDS OF WEIRD NOISES AND BLEW UP NOT TO LONG AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. HA...WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT THE TRUCK THE GUY WAS LIKE "YOU COULD DRIVE THIS TRUCK TO CALIFORNIA AND BACK IT RUNS SO GOOD". WELL HE WAS ON CRACK OR SOMETHING.

Hey good luck with the mechanic. I know the feeling - my wife's Pathfinder is going to visit the tranny doctor tomorrow, too. The last time it was there, it cost us over $2000. Hopefully not again...

But anyway, that's why I like doing my own work as much as possible. Cheaper and usually a lot of "fun".... |

ended up not going to the mechanic today. i left my house driving one of my dads 99' tahoes (4x4) and when i try to get on the highway, it wont go, it just clucks a lot when i accelorate and wont go above 30mph. when i was leaving my house, teh service engine light came on when i put the thing in gear, so i'm thinking it was a transmission problem. anyway, hopefully i'll get my truck worked on this week

My bad about the "CAPSLOCK" everytime I get on the computer it is on capslock, it is starting to piss me off. I also love working on my truck but there is always a limit to what I can do. Some stuff is just a lil to hard or I never have the tool to do the job

What many of you need is some freinds who live close by that like to wrench on things. That's how I got started when I was only 14 years old and have yet to get the grease from under my finger nails (I have some seriously old grease under there). Tools are not really a problem either. Almost any specialty tool needed to do a job can be rented from places like NAPA or Car Quest or borrowed from a freind.
One other thing before I get off my soap box. This group and all the other on-line groups are there to help you if you should ever run into trouble. That's something we older folks never had.

Believe me I know that. I do all my work to my truck because I dont trust places they either rip you off or do a bad job. It would just make life easier with an impact wrench or something. Theres always one bad bolt thats tight as hell.
