How much ?
This is not a looking to buy question. What should I expect to pay for a nice rust free 2wd shortbed 73-87 ? By nice I mean very good paint or quality repaint AC, PS, uder 100,000 miles, etc.

Re: How much ?
they all are gonna be under a 100,000 miles. haha. depends on where you are looking. in PA, its probably going to run you a little more than in the more southern states, especially if you are looking for as clean as one as you say.

Re: How much ?
I wouldn't give more than $1500.00 for it myself.

Re: How much ?
If the truck is from the north east I would have to say there is or was rust on truck. Make sure you check all the usual spots and see if there is bondo. I would have to say depending on the condition 1500 to 3000. I shipped my truck from California so I could get a rust free truck. Paid 1500.00 for truck. It did have one small rust spot.

Re: How much ?
Based on those photos: That's a nice truck, but not $9500 nice. If condition is original unrestored with no rust and shows regular wear then up to $5500. If the pictures just don't do it justice and it's a spectacular restoration with little to no wear or tear, clean underbody, engine bay, low miles, etc (near show condition) then up to $7500 in my opinion.
I agree with the guys above, you can get a complete and solid truck for around $2000 but it will need quite a bit of work. I have an '87for sale right now and everybody that comes by wants to give me $1500 for it but it's like the one in the pic. $1500 won't even get you an abused 4 wheeler these days.

Re: How much ?
That truck looks clean in the pics. I think it is a re-paint. It looks like the bed bols have been painted over. I think that is way too much for that truck. That would be a nice 4500.00 truck if it isnt a rust bucket.

Re: How much ?
There is an 86 here in town 75,000 miles, 0 rust, original paint is a 9 1/2 out of 10 with 0 dings or dents, new crate motor with 5 grand on it 350 trans, immaculate interior with no cuts or tears, staggered 15x7 and 15x8 rally wheel combo, all trim-bezels-bumpers and ornaments like new, full exhaust. The guy wants 6,000 for it.
I paid 2,000 for mine with 0 rust issues, new a/c, brand new exhaust from header back, engine bay and interior cab painted, plus a crap load of $$$ put into it by the previous owner. My old silverado went for 1,000. It had dings but no rust. It all depends on what you want. There are alot of these trucks out there and it seems just when you find a good deal on one and purchase it up comes one in even better condition than the one you just bought for an even cheaper price. Happy hunting. Last edited by thump16; 12-16-2008 at 11:34 AM. |

Re: How much ?
Expand your search radius, plan to take a road trip and a good deal will come.
Use as many resourses as possible autotrader, craigslist, ebay, local paper,And just driving down roads will turn up a deal sometimes.I live in Missouri and find better deals with no rust down in Texas. For that kind of money you can take a lot of trips to find the right truck for a whole lot less.Good luck in your search.

Re: How much ?
I paid $1600 for my 84 but it doesn`t have a/c. May have been priced a little high but the guy dumped over $3000 into it last december so i felt confident it wold be a good truck. so far it has been. It needed a tune up recently and runs really good. No rust but some minor dents and now needs a tailgait because of my stupidity but it was close in price to the other trucks I looked at and was cheaper than some thrucks that were in worse shape.

Re: How much ?
I think if you find one in the condition that you stated would be in $3000 and up range. Less than 100,000 miles on a 15yr old truck is asking for a lot seeming that theres no real way to tell if its under that mileage. I payed $1400 for mine yesterday and it is rust free but yes there is still work to be done to get to the level at what your searching for.

Re: How much ?
IT all depends on the condition of the truck. The two that are in my garage have had plenty of work done on them and my Son's truck would go for a $4000.00 and mine for more. I would not give them away. They can rust to a pile before I give up on them.

Re: How much ?
Here in north florida, you can score a running one for about 1k,no rust, needing paint maybe.I bought my suburban for 900 about 2 yrs ago. That being said, look out for the hidden problems,I had rearend issues later.
