I dont think so......maybe take the hardware in case you get some parts giving you a hard time or breaking; you know the story!!! As far as Im aware they are the same with a slightly wider track. You will need new wheels anyway. Have fun wrestling that thing around; dont blow an 'O' ring!!

Rear end is here! I went and pulled it (thank heavens for blow torches!), and it's now sequestered in my basement, atop a pair of jack stands. I didn't blow my O-ring either, though it was certainly strained beyond factory reccomendations.
I pulled off the *****in' chrome diff cover the PO installed (which I'll be losing) and counted 14 teeth on the pinion, and 43 on the ring gear, which pencils out to 3.071428571...and a bunch of other essentially useless digits. Hell yeah 3.07 gears! Highway speeds here I come! And it came with new shoes, wheel cylinders, and drums, too. Not bad for $150. |

Nice score. I'm sure it came out relatively well with a torch, otherwise...you might still be out there on your back trying to get it out. Good job!

I thought about that, but I've already got dropped spindles, and I want to use the later style control arms.
That said, I'm heading over to look at upper and lower control arms, rotors, and calipers off a '77 tomorrow. Guy wants $125, and says they're in great shape, with a bunch of new parts... We'll see. |

Jeez! Good craigslist deals for me this week.
Got the whole front end, from spindle to spindle complete, with steering linkage, shocks, etc for $125. It has aftermarket lifted springs in it though, which I'll be losing. Other than that, it's in great shape. Not going to use the entire cross member though. Gotta totally disassemble it,clean, paint, etc, and of course, reassemble with my dropped spindles. $375 out of pocket so far, and I have a five-lug rear end, dropped spindles, and most of my frontend hardware. Now I just need a master cylinder, proportioning valve, brake lines, bushings, u bolts, wheels, tires, tie rod kit, shocks... |
