I've been looking at the JC Whitney and LMC catalogs for weather stripping and pre-molded carpet kits. I'll also be getting the sound deadening and insulation pad to go under the carpet.

Has anyone bought this stuff from either company?
How did you like it?
Is there another place to find quality weather stripping and pre-molded carpet?

Bought both the weather stripping as the carpet from LMC. Haven't used the carpet yet since I'm in the middle of a restoration but it looks nice. I've used some of the parts from weather-stripping kit and they fit nice so no complaints about these parts.

i just ordered new weather stripping and window channel for the doors and the seal thing that goes at he bottom of the windows on the out and inside of the doors. it should be in by wednesday, i'll let yall know about the quality when it comes in.

I bought all the door weather stripping, window channels, and carpet from JC Whitney. My carpet is the full coverage, by NPI. I am well satisfied with it.

I bought NPI carpet too, Its incredible, comes pre-molded with underpad, vinyl heel area, and sewn edging where exposed. Its nice stuff. Roadkill makes a sound deadener that works great, but a less expensive version is called "brown bread" its just as good but 1/2 the price.

I didn't buy anymore. It already had the pad stuff under the rubber mat I replaced. One day down the road I plan on redoing the whole sound deadening thing. I figure after I get it painted and before putting everything back inside.

Heather,

I don't know anything about what JC Whitney sells, but I have Auto Custom Carpets in two of my trucks and don't think I would go with anything else. My 84 has a 350 and I didn't use any extra sound deadener (there is about a 1/2" glued to the bottom of the carpet) but in my 87 with the diesel, I covered the floor with a heavy sound deadener pad that ACC also sells and put the carpet with its additional sound deadener over that. That made a huge difference in how quiet both of those trucks are.

As for weatherstripping, the GM parts aren't very expensive depending on which specific piece you are talking about. The piece that goes all the way around the door opening is around $35. The window channel and pieces on the door and door panel at the bottom of the window are about $20 each. I have part numbers if you need them.

Chevy Duty also has good prices on weather stripping.

The ones that LMC sells are auto custom carpets. Lookes real nice but I already said that.

About the sound deadener, did anyone ever used this on other parts than the floor. I'm thinking of using some kind of sound deadener on the inside of my doors and the rear panel of the cab. This is suposed to help the performance of your sound system. Anyone had some experience in this?

Purchased my Door weatherstripping Kit from LMC. However I never did get to install the stuff, on my truck. A buddy of mine baught the kit from me because it was sitting in my garage collecting dust. (I figure get the engine/tranny perfect, then work on the interior.) So I helped install it on his truck. Fit real nice - which reminds me, time to order again. :p

I recommend JCWhitney too. I have their weather stripping on my truck. No leaks and no wind noise. Even with the rain guards removed.

You should look on ebay. I bought my Door Weather Stripping from there for only $38(Kit), I also see carpet kit for your kind of truck on there alot. Just a thought!!!

Got my rubber from JCW too. My truck's in the paint shop so I wanted all the rubber replaced for a cleaner job. Looks like it's high quality rubber.

I have purchased molded carpet from auto custom carpets a couple times too. I was happy - great color selection, and you can get floor mats to match with logos. Plus their kits go all the way back to the back of the cab (under the seat).

well my window channels and weather stripping stuff came in today from JJC Whitney. don't know about the fit yet, but It sure looks and feels good. the window channel is made in a one piece deal. i'm pretty sure the channels i pulled outa my doors was two piece though. either that or it was broke at he corner of the vent window
