A couple questions
Ive just purchased a 1965 chevy fleetside short bed. It is in pretty decent shape but I do have a few things that need to be done. Anyone eer replace their window regulators? Was it a pain or pretty straight fwd? Ive seen kits to eliminate tailgate chains by installing hinge arms. If I do this what latches the gate? Last but not least is LMC the best place to buy parts? I found another company that has an easier to navigate web site but their prices are slightly higher. Any goo or bad comments or concerns regarding LMC?
Here is a crappy cell phone pic of my new pride and joy. Ill take better pics later. |

Re: A couple questions
I think lmc is good they have been around for a while.
regulators themselves are a breeze to change... It is getting the factory screws out that is the problem I ended up heating all the screws on my 61 to get them out. Get the right size phillips driver, and give it a try, if they fight you at all, -stop- and use the heat before you strip them out. I ended up having to vise grip a few to get mine off, and even had weld a nut to one! btw welcom to the board lots of good info here. |

Re: A couple questions
sweet truck, LMC is decent in my opinion, but I hear lotsa complains about their products. The only thing I dislike is the ay they pack stuff, full of foam peanuts that fly everywhere when you open the box

Re: A couple questions
Welcome aboard form North Georgia. I'm not too far from you. Nice looking truck you have there. I deal with truckandcarshop.com I want to start using some of the vendors on this forum in the future, if I can remember too. I'm set in my ways somewhat. Right now I can't speak too highly of CPP's customer service. They have great products and I had good luck with them before. Maybe it's just the Christmas rush.

Welcome aboard from Kansas City, KS. You have a very nice rig to work with. Try: www.bowtiebits.com www.classicparts.com www.lmctruck.com www.oldchevytrucks.com www.harmons.com www.truckandcarshop.com www.mar-k.com www.brotherstruck.com www.impalas.com They all have a free catalog. I live in Overland Park, KS and frequent LMC Truck, in Lenexa, KS, for many of my 4-5-6 Chevy truck parts. I also use Classic Parts, formerly known as, Chevy Duty, in Riverside, MO with good luck. Good luck with your project and remember to post early and often. Happy Holidays! Last edited by LILRED66; 12-22-2008 at 10:57 PM. |

Re: A couple questions
Yeah nice Truck. I've used LMC and various others. Nothing really bad to report so far about them or "the others".
Just do what your doing by posting pics and questions and you'll have that exactly the way you want it. |

Re: A couple questions
http://www.mar-k.com/what_s_new_at_mar-k.html You might find something you like on this page. The complete tail gates are a bit pricey. Ok alot pricey, but they have some kits also. I have used many parts from www.truckandcarshop.com and have been pretty happy with them. I usually buy from them when they are at the swap meets. You pay cash with no tax and their prices are lower at the swap meets.
