'65, big back window and extended cab ??'s

Ok, I have a couple of '65's, one is GMC (my future project truck) and the other Chevy (parts/donor truck), plus I have a 74 Chevy 1/2ton pickup for parts (discs, rears, tilt, etc) and I was wondering if anyone has put a large rear glass from a later 70's Chevy p'up in a 60's model.
Also, extending a cab using two cabs, possibly chopping it in the process, anyone done that and what am I looking at in terms of cost for the glass? I really don't NEED it chopped, but I really do need it extended, and shortening the bed isn't that much of a chore, saw it on a tv program a while back so I can keep the long wb frame.
OK, last question, since I do have a 74 donor truck, would it be easier and worth it to use THAT frame for my project and toss the 65's?

I know it's a lot to ask, (oh lookie, a VH smilie! ), but perhaps I can get someone, anyone, someone, no one, to encourage me a teeny weeny bit?

First off Welcome to the board.

IMO I wouldn't try the later model back window. I don't think it would look right. As for the frame, I'd stick with the '65 frame since there's nothing wrong with them. If you use the '74 frame, you'll end up with a body lift when it's all done.

you can convert to a big back window:
there is a guy on ebay that sells a handformed inner panel that you can use, or if your metal skills are good you can just cut and weld up what you have.
leave about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of metal for a pinch weld on the outside.
cut the inner panel long-leave yourself about 4 inches- clamp the inner to the new outer pinch weld.
plug weld the whole thing.
then trim off the excess inner metal.
you wil have to rework the 4 inner corners a bit .

keep your 65 frame just transfer what you want off the 74 to it.

chopping:
if you are lucky you can get the windshield cut, or sand blasted without it breaking, but plan for the worst , and be ready to buy a new one if you have to.

all your side glass and rear window are flat, and should be relatively cheap for a glass shop to cut new ones for you if you provide the patterns.

Im about to pull my 65 in for the winter project. extending the cab 24 in and the frame 12. or maybe 6 in and cut the bed down.(swb)ohh and rear doors to open like a new truck

thats not enough. i have took alot of consideration on this.. less than 24 in is almost usless other than looks. that photochop is only about 10-12in all you could fit there is the family dog

Long legs and a bit of a recline is what I'm interested in.

Great pics btw! Looks exactly like what I'm looking for! Won't need the chop if it turns out looking this good.

This is AWESOME!!! Love the colors too so that may be the way to go for sure.
Oh, and besides the long legs, I really want a place out of the cold for my guitar when going to practice or gigs, that's the main reason, and diaper bag for my granddaughter too

Thank you for the info. I have the cab for the 74 so I can gut the metal from that for its frame.
What are the differences in the sizes of back windows from the 60's to the 70's? And what are the differences in shapes? I could possibly use a window(sliding perhaps) from any year or the mid to late 70's cabs since I have a couple. I know (or could easily) the dimensions to the later windows but only have reference to small backs with what I have.
I really don't plan on a show truck, mainly practical, or more in the rat rod realm since I don't have those kind of skills or time for a primo ride.
