By request, pictures of my TBI FI'ed 250 Straight 6.
I know these aren't the best, but I hope they get the idea across. TBI unit is off a 4.3 V-6 as I am told by Howell, and works very well. I did alter the TPS sensor as it interfered with the brake booster. Other than that it bolted right onto my water heated Clifford intake with the adapter I got in the kit from Clifford. Pretty much a plug and play setup. I did have to relocate the coolant temp sensor as well, drilled/tapped a hole in the t-stat base and put it there, was going to use a port in the head, but couldn't get a adapter to make the sensor fit that pipe thread and had little luck finding a GM sensor that would and work with the harness. As you can see, I drive it daily.........Preforms very well. And yes, its so cold I am running cardboard over a portion of the radiator to help the Inline make heat.

Man, that turned out great! You really did a nice job on that.
Not too sure about the electric fuel pump being mounted to the engine though. Really makes me want to build something with a 250 or 292. A ’68 short stepside with a TBI straight 6 backed by a NV3500 5 speed would be neat rig to roll around in and still get decent fuel mileage. Love your truck! I’ll trade you for a ’72 C20 with a TBI 5.7L and 700R4

definitely one of my favorite trucks on this site. I absolutely love the fact you have a hot 250.

I like your way of thinking. It would be much easier to service up top. Hopefully, you won’t have to change it as a result of heat damage. Electric fuel pumps typically do not like heat at all but it looks like it is working well for you so far. I love that truck! Sure you don’t want to trade?

TP I hope you documented this mod and will do a FAQ for it.It looks well thought out and I'm sure some would like to duplicate it.
HEI distributor from almost any wrecking yard.I gave $25.00 for mine and used it as is to get the upgrade done and it diod work fine then I replaced the cap and rotor. IIRC any Chevy inline 6 distributor works.Nova's,trucks,some Camaro's,Vans,and almost any other body style could be had with the 6.I got mine from an 81 but if you get an earlier one it may have a divorced coil.IIRC the divorced coil is required if you have AC.The real skinny on this swap is by member "shifty" in the FAQ's.He has listed part #'s for the little wire ends in the electrical block at the fire wall and just about any other thing you would need.Buy spares of the terminal connectors since they are cheap and you may mess one up.

where does the water for the water heated intake go into the intake at? I have a intake but no water hook up. I would like to add it but I do not where I should do it.

I put considerable thought into the pump placement, considering all what was mentioned here. I decided that no matter where you mount it, it had to suck fuel up out of the stock fuel tank I wanted to KEEP inside the cab. With that in mind, I didn't want it on the frame, nor did I want a filter on the frame rail as well, so I decided to mount both the fuel pump and the filter in the engine compartment for easy access. To date I have not had trouble, that doesn't say I won't, but I am happy with it.
I bought this HEI new from Summit...........Its only found online. Didn't want a used one with a questionable background for a daily driver. The water heat for the intake is routed as follows.........Hot water from the t-stat housing goes to the heater core, the hose leaving the heater core runs to the rear port on the intake, the water leaving the front port runs back into the water pump.

are the ports built into the casting. Mine has no ports but it has a place to bolt up something. I was thinking of building a box for water. it is right under the carb under the intake.

Very cool build. I'd be interested to hear what kind of fuel milage you are getting too.
Seems to me, most of the comments about the fuel pump needing to be on the frame or closer to the tank are based on modern cars/trucks where the gas tank is mounted under the bed. Since 67-72 fuel tanks are mounted in the cab, gravity should help pressurize the system which, IMO, is why your setup makes perfect sense.
