1960 axle swap??????????

I'm just wondering if I put some newer axles under my 60 will it detract from the value of the truck

I wanna go play but I'm afraid I'll bust the factory hardware HO33&d44 5F

I have a 14 bolt and a heavy hub d44 out of a 75 I'm thinkin about tossin under it

Will the newer 44 bolt in?

If you want to use your truck I say go for it but keep the factory stuff. Then if you ever want to sell it just swap back. I am wanting to do the same thing to my 66 but have not taken any measurements to see if it will fit. Keep us posted on what you decide.

I have a 61 4x4 that I put an 89 blazer corp 10 bolt up front. It bolted in, just need new brake lines and new u bolts and the u bolt plates from the axle you get. I also used the 89 blazer rear axle on my truck, just had to cut off the spring plates and move them out a little. I don't think that it will take away from the value, just keep the old axles in case you want to put them back under the truck.

I think it will only hurt the value "if" you where to restore youre truck to be completly original.

Personally I would do the swap if the axles where on hand
and just like everyone else I would save youre old axles (just in case)

For those of you that have done a similar swap what did you do about the steering and is it the same front U-joint, did you convert to p/s & p/b? How much wider is the 14b

we did the later stuff under my nephew's 63 shortbed. i used a 75 disc brake front diff, 69 rear diff-12 bolt, 73 transfer case 205, and a 73 granny box 4 speed. we used a 72 p-s box and an 82 master/booster. we also used a 69-72 steering column shaft. it took a little fab work but turned out awesome and is much more user friendly and road worthy. he has no plans on selling it since it was his first vehicle as a kid and he has taken it all over the western U.S. on hunting trips. he loves that old truck.
