I see in the second pic where the snap ring retaining groove is covered by the inner hub piece. But what's the 3rd pic showing as i see the groove in it?

So basically you're showing in pic 2 that the outer axle stub does not quite protrude thru the hub far enough to expose that snap ring groove. But its pretty close right? I think its a matter of prying that axle shaft outward because of the new seal and washer behind the spindle.

Mine did that, hold the hub assy. in and reach around to the axel ujoint and push the axel out wile holding the hub in. This should alow the end of the axel to expose the groove for the snap ring.
