Since I'm going to be replacing the weather stripping and carpet...
I was thinking I'll have my truck interior close to being gutted....minus the visors (which I'm going to be replacing) and the dash pad/bezel/gauge area...
so I was thinking of getting rid of my yucky brown paint inside to better match the charcoal grey carpet I'm getting.... I really don't have the money to have the interior painted right now but I was thinking that I could get it ready by primering it and use a color that would match my carpet for now Has anyone done this? Do you think it would look ok temporarily? Is there any reason this would be a bad idea? My husband works for a company that builds custom gaming pc's (#1 in the world...they're actually featured in the next two months of Maxim magazine...) Anyways, one of their custom features is a custom painted case and the guy who paints them is one of the top painters for Lithia Automotive here in the valley. He actually uses automotive paint to paint these cases. They are amazing!! He'll give us a good deal on painting when we're ready so my husband is going to ask him what he would charge to paint just the interior of my truck. Since I don't have a whole lot of money to put into this, my back up plan is the primer if I can't afford to have him paint it right now. Here's some of his work: Here's the pc case that travels on the NASCAR circuit... and Dale Earnhardt Jr even has one of his custom painted cases with his driver number and a custom built pc from my husband's company. Needless to say, when I'm ready, I'm going to definitely be hiring him to do all of my painting!! Well, I got a little carried away with showing off his work...but what do y'all think about primering my interior?

Dayum, them sure is some purdy towers.
I believe I would ask him what he would charge to paint it for me and start saving for it. Are you planning on letting him prime it for you? If so, I think it might be OK. I would talk to him and see what he says about it. Definetely, I wouldn't even think about using rattle cans to do it. If you do, it will all have to come back off when painted. Good luck.

I say let him do it all. Strip it, prep it, primer it, then paint it. Im sure it will come out great.

I agree. Let him do it for sure and save for it. I'd wait for his work for sure.

We've got two falcon cases sitting next to my desk that are waiting for parts. They're not the plastic cheapo cases either...high quality with a lifetime warranty. and we get pretty good deals on parts. There's a 60 gig hard drive sitting down there that I'm getting for $35 Funny to see such a high quality computer manufacturer in this small little town. Not to mention they only have about 15 employees..but each PC is custom built and tested by their technicians. Not just thrown together like Dell and Gateway. If you're into gaming or graphics or anything that requires a quick, reliable computer, these are definitely the way to go.

I think he goes into some detail on his site www.smooth-creations.com
EDIT: There's actually an address on his site that you can e-mail him and ask him how to paint your own case

Well, I got a price from him....
He'll paint the interior for the cost of material...which he says will be no more than $100 !! Maybe even less if he can talk to a supplier about sponsoring me...that was his idea...I like his thinking He'll strip off the old paint and do all the prep work so the job is done right. So it looks like I'm going to get my interior painted. I'm shooting for the end of March, around spring break so it won't hurt me to be without my truck for a few days. When I'm ready to repaint the exterior, I'll be able to get it done for $300 - $400...I can't wait!!

that is just ricockulous , what a great price!
I would be willing to pay for his flight down here and I would give him a clean room to stay in till hes done. I would even supply the food and beer (no drinking on the job though, well no more then 4 beers on the job). I need to find someone in my area who cant paint well and give me a good deal.

apstguy,
that looks almost like the computer I have here at work. Its a little dated now. It has the same case. It has dual 400mhz processors running on a dual boot system (98 and nt4.0 (6a). it has two voodoo2 cards and a firegl accelerator card. It has a dvd player, a floppy, a zip drive, a standard cd, and a cd recorder on it and a couple hard drives. My boss just got a new pc for the new guys and he has a dvd burner! with a 20 something inch flat screen, its sweet.
