getting the truck ready for winter?
I got a frame off restored 70 GMC on a boat right now headed here to Norway to be my daily driver on a 3 mile trip to work everyday. The roads are incredible salty and slushy for all of winter. The underside is painted, and I am sure there are plenty of under coating places I can get it treated at here, but does anyone have anything else to suggest?

Re: getting the truck ready for winter?
I don't know that POR-15 is going to do anything at this point. It is made to be painted directly onto existing rust, not as a preventitive. As stated by the OP, the truck is already painted underneath.
It is a rather expensive propostion, but the ideal thing would be to have a warm garage to rinse the undercarriage (and body for the matter) everyday. Keeping it clean and salt-free is the best thing you can do, but it really needs to be in a warm place so the it can be dry before you take it back out again. If not, you are risking frozen doors, locks, windows, etc. |

Re: getting the truck ready for winter?
thanks guys, checked out POR-15 and yea it looks like it is for already rusted areas, and I don't have that. I finally got it in the garage and it's drying out, so I guess I will just keep washing it, and keep my eye on the underside.

Re: getting the truck ready for winter?
You could spray it down with used oil like the guys up north do. Yeah it is messy, but better than rust.
