new drop pics..
here are before and after pics of the 3/5 drop on my 68', i posted another thread that I DID NOT use the front springs for a bigblock, i used regular 3"drop springs for a small block and well it went alot lower than what i wanted but still like the front drop like it is..

Re: new drop pics..
Holy crap! They may have given you the wrong springs?
With a spindle drop, a 2" drop is a 2" drop, but with a spring drop, sometimes a 3" spring may only "go down" 2.5" or so because the stock springs were worn... but going down MORE than 3"... what the crap? What did the front actually go down? 5"? Is there REALLY that much weight difference with a big block?

Re: new drop pics..
Ya the BB weight would def. push it down alot more than a SB. Fully dressed a BBC can weigh like 700 lbs. SBC's are closer to 500 I think. Anyways, the tuck looks sweet man!

Re: new drop pics..
That's only 200#. When I stand on the front bumper of my '67, even with my old worn springs, my front end doesn't drop 2"

Re: new drop pics..
Looks great!
Once upon a time my truck had 275/60s all around, loved it. It rode way better then than it does now with big wheels and rubber bands, lol ; Last edited by BigSky71; 01-11-2009 at 02:17 PM. |

Re: new drop pics..
Well there has to be a good reason why they make separate BB and SB springs.

What size wheels and the backspacing? It looks nice the way it sits.

the rears are 16x10 eagles (6lug), dont know the backspace? and the fronts are 15x8 eagles (5lug)... it was hard trying to find the same wheel in a 5 & 6lug, especially something that i liked without having to custom order them, i really like these for now.... i will be putting on a smaller tire in front though, wanting a 225/70/15

Re: new drop pics..
The springs will only get lower if their brand new. Takes some time to wear them in. IIRC they can get about a half inch lower to an inch usually.
But, it looks sick as hell.. so leave it Last edited by texanidiot25; 01-11-2009 at 04:31 PM. |

Re: new drop pics..
Holy negative camber bat man, be sure to hit the alignment shop. As for the previous debate BB vs SB springs I have used 3" sb springs with a BB many times and the difference is about .5"

Re: new drop pics..
ECE lists their springs as SB or BB.

Re: new drop pics..
^^^ I'm with Keith. I've never heard of a difference between bb, sb, or straight six lowering springs....... but in reality, there really should be. those bb are heavy.

CPP does too, at least they used to. I also think that POL does.

Re: new drop pics..
CPP didn't list them different when I bought my 1" springs a few years back. Compared to the worn stock springs, I think mine raised an inch with 1" drop springs. Thank goodness for lowering spindles.
ap2002, to be totally honest, IMO it doesn't look right to me. It looks like you have broken shocks or collapsed springs. If you do the LS engine swap, you might be good to go though. The lighter weight will bring it back up some.
