replacing side glass

how do you get the frame off of the glass? it looks like the bottom track may be riveted to the frame on my '50.

There should be some cluch head screws that attach the metal frame around the edge of the glass to the metal channell at the bottom. The bottom of the glass is held into the metal channel with glue/seeler.

I removed mine when I had new glass made and I decided to go without the metal frame around the edge of the glass, so it looks cleaner.

Good luck

does it still seal good without the frame? seems like you would need a little thicker glass.

I can't answer that as of yet. the glass thickness is the same (1/4) you have to use different channel felt. It will take some modification to get it to work. A friend of mine did it on a truck that he built. It looked great. You can see the pics of this truck on the following web site.

I have also picked his brain a little as well whish should help.
