6 Bolt Disk Brakes?
I saw this in a build thread that I neglected to keep track of, so thought I would ask all you out there willing to spill your guts on all types of questions...lol. Someone had posted that they were putting 6 bolt disk brakes from a mid 80's 3/4 ton truck on a 67-70. They had a list of parts that were needed for the swap, but have been pulling my hair out trying to find the right build thread to get the list from. I am sure they included the spindles from the donor truck, as well as mentioning the other parts needed to complete the swap. My 69 has power drums on the front and am getting sick of having to adjust them and the lack of braking power they have. I know it is proabably a stuck self adjuster causing the problem, but if I have to take them apart, would rather update to the disks. Anyhow anyone interested in providing me with "a shopping list", it would be greatly appreciated. Also would like to lower truck (static drop) and info about drop spindles needed to finish the swap would be nice also. I prefer to leave my truck a 6 lug (already have invested in new wheels and tires), thanks all. Oh, by the way just wanted to say that this is a great site, loads of info here as well as pics.

Re: 6 Bolt Disk Brakes?
I just finished that brake conversion.
I'm thinking about writing it up in a nice neat fact piece with pictures and part numbers...no master cylinder though. Mick |

Re: 6 Bolt Disk Brakes?
No problem, that was my truck at one time so I keep tabs on it & knew exactly what you were talking about when you posted this thread

Re: 6 Bolt Disk Brakes?
Yep HotRod 80 is correct it's that easy.
I am writing it up with pictures and part numbers, a step by step for anyone who needs pictures and a little hand holdng. I thought everyone should know how easy this conversion is and at the same time I'm writing a 2wd lift fact piece. Maybe save some one some money... Mick |
