If you spin the motor to 5,500, the 3.42's are going to make it even worse. Right now, the steeper gear is multiplying your TQ and making you go faster. Generally speaking, you want as much gear as you can for best ET. You just don't want to run out of RPM before the finish line.

You would be better off putting a looser converter in the truck. Also running a shorter tire with yuour current combo.

The looser converter will get you in the power band faster, multiply TQ as your leaving and get your shift extesions shorter helping to keep you in your power band.


With a 26" tire, 10% slip, 5,500rpm your looking at 93.3mph.
Speak of the devil I have some 26 inch slicks I picked a few weeks ago for cheap. What size and kind of converter would you recomend? I'm trying to get this truck into the 14's/13's and keep it capable for the street.

Whatnow,

Any truck scale or dump scale can do it. Just weigh the front axle then get a total weight. Your rear weight is just to total minus the front..



Heavy,

Can you give us a little info on your motor. Cubic inches, Cam, headers, intake, manifold. All that comes in to play with selecting a converter. If I had to guess, with keeping it streetable with out a lock up converter, I'd say 2,400-2,800 rpm is about the biggest I'd go.

Motor is a 383 stroker edelbrock performer intake,edelbrock carb 650 cfm, roller rockers,268 comp cam, 160 202 fulie heads hedman headers 2 and a 1/2flowmaster dual exhaust.

Hey,

I have the weight of my truck. I'm not sure exactly what you need but here is what I got.

3800 total with me in it.

1480 rear with me in it, so that would make the front 2320.

I'm 190lbs and I had a 1/4 tank of gas. The tank is in the rear, so a little more weight could go over the rear with a full tank.
