3rd Brake Light
Has anybody seen a 3rd brake light installation on our trucks?

Re: 3rd Brake Light
I used a simple LED light used for truck toppers... it uses a dozen medium sized LEDs. It was cheap, works well, and is quite bright.
You hardly notice it if it's not lit. I've seen some use tahoe/burban lights too. http://persh.org/Pickup/ThirdBrakeLight.htm |

Re: 3rd Brake Light
That looks like a "bright" idea!
Seriously, it makes sense to have one. Our brake lights are small, and not too noticeable. Keep us posted on what you decide to use.

Re: 3rd Brake Light
I believe that I have the original high mount brake lights. They were installed by my dad shortly after he bought the truck in 1965. They are still working.

Re: 3rd Brake Light
I have one of those led light strips that mount under the tailgate and plug into the trailer harness. It works just like the tail lights. You get park lights, brake and the left half flashes with the left and so on. I put it on the tahoe.

Re: 3rd Brake Light
Yes it is. I had just bought a new suburban back in '94. I got the idea while washing it one day. I was so excited by the idea that I stripped the light off and installed it on the pickup. My wife wasn't very happy that I left a big hole in the top of her 1/2 washed truck. I also installed one on my orange '65 but I used an aftermarket one made by Pilot that I found at a swap meet for like $15. My friend Van Pershing has detailed installation and wiring pics on his website. Heres a linky
