Need Interior picture 59 Apache
My truck has a speaker box, wrong looking sun visors and no rear view mirror. (I'll post a picture of what I have if I ever get a chance.) The repo rear view mirror bracket everyone sells does not look like it will fit under the speaker box.
If anyone has any good interior shots showing this area above the winshield please post them. Or if you can tell me what I need. Looking for stock set up. Mainly the stock mirror and speaker. Thanks |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
Well it looks like the truck never had a rear view mirror installed. There are no holes drilled into the roof above the winshield behind the speaker box. I think with a stock style mirror and the correct sun visors everything should fit real good.

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
Maybe the outside door mirror was stock with the speaker option??

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
As far as I know that is correct. I have never seen an inside mirror with a radio speaker. Not to say it couldn't have been but I have dismantled almost a hundred taskforce trucks and never seen an inside mirror with a radio speaker on the windsheild panel almost always they had the round swan neck mirrors on both sides.

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
I stumbled across a picture of a mirror speaker combo online yesterday. I will post it up too.
I just got the truck into the barn/shop yesterday to start working on it some. I want to fix a few problems with it before I start driving it around. |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
I just looked at mine and it doesn't have the holes for a mirror but the speaker box does have a cutout as if it were for a mirror. Its always possible they had it as an option or part of an accessory package.

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
I wonder if that was added later by a previuos owner. It has slotted pan head screws in it. They should be oval heads philips.
I sure would like to get an accessory book for these old trucks |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
Thanks joemacho,
I found two pictures with both mirror and speaker but the trucks have been restored already. I installed a reproduction one in my 59 today. Fits great and looks right. I just didn't think I could get used to not having a mirror in the cab. Here are the pictures I am talking about: Last edited by Texasdeere; 01-25-2009 at 10:58 PM. |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
I just got my accessory book for 59 chevy trucks and it shows they did come as a dealer add on, they were not done at the factory but thats not unusual for back then.
So that does make them original and optional. The pictures you posted are the only ones I've ever seen. I've seen the mirror or radio but never both. Some other items from the book were A/C, P/B, Grille Guard that looked like a cow catcher, Electric Wiper and washer, Golve Box Lite and seat belts. All dealer installed items. |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
Good stuff Dave,
At least the speaker boxes were already notched for mirror bracket clearance. The top picture is from a truck on ebay right now, and the bottom picture is from: http://www.pbase.com/ninerjoe/59_apache Last edited by Texasdeere; 01-27-2009 at 12:18 AM. |

Re: Need Interior picture 59 Apache
My 56 cameo is unrestored and it has both the speaker and the rearview mirror like the ones in the pictures.
