Anyone Buy A Radiator Lately?

My newly purchased 72 Blazer 4x4, 350-Auto-AC, has sprung a significant radiator leak so I'm in the market for a replacement. Has anyone bought the Classic Parts Desert Cooler radiatior or a radiator from LMC? Any opinions on them? What I don't want is a radiator that uses plastic hose hook ups that you screw into the tanks. I want a quality, original looking unit. Thanks.

Last one I bought was from a local auto parts store - I think I paid like $220 for a four row, perfect fit. I've heard good things about radiator.com - you'll find the all the radiators they sell for our year trucks have the hook ups for an auto tranny cooler, regardless of whether your pricing a radiator for a manual or auto.

Hey, thanks for the response. The last radiator I bought at an auto parts store came with plastic hose hook ups that screwed into the tanks. Call me old fashion but I like all metal parts - soldered. I'll do some local looking first to see what's available. By the way, I see your from Rose Hill, KS. The Blazer I bought on Thursday came from Lyndon, KS. Same owner for last 32 years. He bought in 1977 and was the second owner. My very first vehicle was a 72 K10 SWB. Bought it at age 14 (1977) and had to wait 2 years to drive it legally. Loved that truck. Sold it after 8 years. Have been playing with 60-66 trucks for the last 19 years. Finally getting back into the 67-72 generation. With a wife and 3 kids, thought a Blazer would be a cool family ride - 4 wheel drive of course.

I bought mine from 1800radiator (delivered to house in a hour) but found it cheaper at rock auto (coupon code somewhere) 4 Row, no plastic, with tranny lines if needed for about $225 or so... copper/brass

I haven't installed it yet but it looks original enough to me...

I have this one.. Proliance 433369 Made in Mexico $208 plus shipping before any coupons on rockauto.com

Thanks for the feedback on that radiator. I knew that a local parts chain, O'Reillys sold that brand so I did a search on their website and found that exact model, 433369, for $179.99. See this link http://www.oreillyauto.com/EW3/Produ...&currentPage=0

Cool about the purchase of your K5 from Lyndon. The radiator I got also does not have any plastic on it - guess you have to be careful to make sure you get what you want. I'd prefer no plastic also.

That's a decent price... I think it seems good, near original too. They painted it after they put those banding straps on it though so you can see a little under them... It's a four core with correct hose fittings which is better than some.

Do those straps stay on or come off? I don't know...

Before buying a new one, take it to a radiator shop and see if it can be repaired. I had mine boiled and repaired and painted for $75.

Well I bought the Proliance 433369. All metal. It's been in a week with no problems. Seems like a decent radiator, especially for the price. Also comes with a lifetime warranty. The old radiator was a work of art. Someone had taken 2 2-row cores and soldered them to the tanks to make a homemade 4-row radiator. It could probably be saved but I'm not sure it would be worth it.

recycle your old one. I got a few bucks for mine.. would have been more if I had taken the ends off...
