dash clip removal

Ok I have two questions. ( 1 ) How do you remove the old retainer clips which hold the dash in place on a 1986 silverado?
( 2 ) Has anyone ever heard anything about " DASHESDIRECT "? Thinking about buying a dash from them, through a local dealer at a cost of $260.00 it`s made of viny like the orig. Thanks for any helpl

Re: dash clip removal

Wow. Must be a good time of year to think about replacing the dash pad, except the note that came with mine said to install it when the temp was above 70 degrees.

I found that by gently lifting the end of the clip that pokes down into the bottom of the dash pad with a small screwdriver, you can then rotate the clip. When you get it 90 degrees from its installed position, it will come right out.

Dashes direct is the same outfit that made my pad, but I bought it from a guy selling them on ebay. I believe mine is made of urethane.

Maybe someone reading this thread can give me some advice in mine! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=326951

Re: dash clip removal

Do NOT get the urethane version!!!
The Vinyl skinned version is better, but you still have to dye it (only comes in Black or Blue) and it is only for 81-87(91) trucks I have left over urethane version for $225 shipped (because I want them gone) the skinned version are $245 + shipping..

Dooley Dude, I already posted a reply to your thread before I got here.

Re: dash clip removal

Thanks for the information. I picked a vinyl skinned one up today from a local shop . Paid $260.00 It is blue the color I needed. Glad I wont have to dye it.
