1974 grill emblem needed
I'm looking for a yellow chevy emblem that goes in the grill for a 1974 truck. Does anyone have/know where I can get one? It's for a friend, and he says he can get a new one for $40, but didn't want to spend that much.

This (visual reference only):
http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/images/73-74grille2.jpg I could be delirious, but my emblem won't come off, it is part of the grille, of which the don't make 73-74 grilles in repro.

The emblem for the '73-74 grilles was a thin metal bowtie glued on the grille, all later models have an actual emblem that is attached with the little nuts on the back of it. I have a near perfect grille emblem off a '75 truck if it's what you're looking for.

emblem
MJN, if that is the one with the chrome surround bezel and gold-yelow transparent bowtie that unbolts. I'm interested if he can't use it . I have 2 nice grilles without them . DAVE

Looking at the picture, I think he needs the glue on metal piece. He was saying that he had a newer one, but it didn't fill up the space. Now I know what he means. So a 73 and a 74 are the same? I don't know much about the 70's trucks, I mainly know 67-72. So, is there anyway to get one off once it's stuck on a grill? I would still like to see if I could find a used one.

I am holding the grille in my hand right now, the emblem as I remembered is molded into the grill. It has a metal sticker stuck to it. It does look to accecpt a clip-on emblem (mine is base model) because it has holes in it. I can't verify this as my other 73 Cheyenne Super Truck isn't anywhere near me...
Yes, 73-74 grilles are the same. I don't think you will be able to get one off that is stuck on without messing it up. Kinda like removing side trim. For $40 and from GM, I would get it. I wouldn't think they would have one anymore.

Thanks,
I"ll let him know. I thought he said GM, but it is probably more likely LMC or the like. |
