Re: Front Wheel Drive
It's weird not hearing a motor scream when that s-10 took off. Just tire noise.

Re: Front Wheel Drive
If you think the caddy is bad, you wouldn't want to see the AMC Pacer that has been turned around and the back is now the front end hooked up to a car hauler bed. It resides on the south side of Stillwater, OK. It makes me smile and laugh everytime I drive by...

Re: Front Wheel Drive
Go for it Man! And post lots of pictures.
Weird ideas are the seeds of great things. If the first rodders listened to those who told 'em they were crazy, we'd all be driving a Ford Focus right now. That said, I'm not sure FWD is ever going to be any better or worse than rear wheel drive. Each has it's advantages and disadvantages. Converting a full-size chev to front wheel drive seems impractical. There's no real gain. Now some sort of transverse-mount 4.3 with smooth handling IFS and touring-car inspired all-wheel drive might be cool. On the other side of the coin, powerplant wise, a small diesel swap might be a good idea. An Isuzu four-popper makes good power and more than enough torque. And kits exist. Fuel cells, electric, etc is something nobody is messing with much yet, though I agree, it'll be much, much more prevalent in years to come. Wanna retire? Invent an easy electric conversion that makes good power, has a good range, and bolts up to a standard chevy truck... For now, just restore that baby, feed it good old gasoline, and hope like hell your kids invent a viable alternative to feed our trucks! Last edited by Oregoon; 02-12-2009 at 11:45 PM. |
