Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
Where to get them? And what is involved in
making them? Do they need to be angled? I work for a Aluminum supplier so getting the raw materials is not an issue. Anything that I need to know or is it just straight forward.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
I made mine out of solid aluminum stock. I did cut to dimension on a table saw and roughed the corners.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
Wish I had access to aluminum stock to make a set for mine. Those on 502tripowers' truck look clean. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
It has it's advantages & disadvantages, I wish we made products
that could be used for other custom applications but we are just a Rod & Bar facility. I will find out if I get my hands on more of it.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
I have a little different perspective here, but I have access to basically any CNC equipment (I sell it for a living) that is made and it was still cheaper to buy the blocks and u-bolts complete from CPP than it was for me to buy the material, the time it would take to machine them, & purchase the U bolts.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
I am in a different position than Shane is. I have lots of free time, and little free money and zero machining tool access. That's why I made mine the way I did using square tubing and did the lowering block FAQ linked above. In my situation, the savings were considerable.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
In my case, I already have the longer U-bolts that were purchased with a rearend mounting kit from another member(thanks Scott!!) so all I have to come up with is some blocks. Therefore, it is cheaper/easier for me to make a set of blocks. I have sourced some square tubing but like the look of the aluminum stock better.
Thx Tx Firefighter for the "how to" write-up!!

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
Well, I have no time, no money, no access to tools and no stock. Guess I'm just screwed.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
lol, I have to measure my U's that came with my super
track bar kit and see if they will work. Only needing 1" I can get stock pretty cheap, it comes in 12' sections.

Re: Lowering Blocks - Make / Buy
I got a set from a member here, so no need to make mine.
