Question regarding the bench seat frame

How should I cut the base out and do I just grind it down flat thereafter?

If I remember right it has spot welds around the outside perimeter. If you can locate them you can drill them out and then clean the floors up. I have found that if you find the spot weld and drill a little you can lift the metal with a pry bar or screwdriver to pop it up. There will be a little metal left behind that you can grind flush for a nice finish. Just be careful not to go to deep or you will have to fill the holes left behind. A spot weld drill works great but I have been using a regular drill and being careful.

I recently took mine out, the spot weld idea is good in theory but A) would take forever and B) leave a million holes in the cab floor. What i did was take a sawzall and use the little dip to my advantage and cut the seat frame that way. You can kinda cheat and force the blade in there. I used a cutting wheel to get it started and used the saw on the big parts. Then grind down the little part thats left and voila youre done. Who cares about the little part leftover right? i should try and post up pics sometime soon

I haven't got that far yet to find the right seats. I am still toying with the idea of chopping the roof and uncertain if I really want to go that route. by biggest concern is how comfortable i will be if I do in terms of leg room. (If I go too low with the seat, I am concerned about leg room.)
