VIN number / imported truck into Holland - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Recently I imported a 71 C10 Cheyenne intoHolland. Now our department of transportation doubts if the VIN tag really belongto that truck. Can someone tell me if the VIN number also is somewhere else on the truck besides in the drivers side doorpost? I don;t have one on top of my dashboard. Inside the glovebox I have a VIN number that looks like the on in the post but is not the same. I believe that is the Service part identificaton number, right?
Further there is a modelnumber mentioned in the glovebox.
I wonder if there also might be a VIN number maybe somewhere on the frame or so....

I think, don't quote me on this, but somewhere on the top side of the frame rail on the driverside above you a-arm there is a vin number. It's somewhere in that general vicinity. Now whether it's the VIN or not I honestly can't remember. Someone else more knowledgeable will chime in I'm sure.

You're right, my '67 has it in that exact location. It's not stamped very deep so you might have to do some "careful cleaning" to see it but be careful a grinder will take it right off,

Take a look at the rivits. Stock rivits have a star shape

anton, There will a vin on the title, drivers side door post, the glovebox door, and the drivers side of the frame as mentioned. It may also have the build sheet in the back of the seat with the number as well. The build sheet is impossible to remove in one piece without the help of at least two other people since the paper is so delicate from age. Good Luck!!!!

Having said that...I have seen one truck, out of possibly 25, (that I have personally checked the VIN's) where the VIN on the title was different from the VIN on the truck! This was DOL (Department of Licensing) mistake. Like I said...GOOD LUCK!

BTW...Welcome to the board from Sunny Seattle...today at least! Congrats on your first post and post some pics of your truck.

My question is, why do they think it is not correct?
If you can post a photo of the VIN plate, and a photo of the truck, we can try and help a little more.
Does the glove box option sheet (SPID) showan acurate representation of the truck? It may have had the glove box door swapped out.

A lot of these trucks, after 40 years are mutts because most of the parts interchange between all 67-72s. The build sheet might be different than the glove box SPID which might be different from the B pillar which might be different than the frame. Mine was. Wait, I guess my SPID and B-pillar matched.

My title matched the VIN on the frame.

The VIN on the frame is a partial VIN. It will be something like the letter of the plant, another digit or two, and the sequence number of the truck. Not the whole VIN like should be on the B-Pillar.

Look on top of the driver's side frame rail, next to the front of the engine.
