No but a 6 inch tailshaft is. If you are changing from a six cylinder to a V-8 and putting the V-8 in the correct location than a 9 inch tailshaft Trans will work prefect with your orginal driveshaft.

So what you are saying is I can move my engine mounts toward the radiator 3inches and the V-8 with a 31 11/16 inch Turbo 350 will bolt in without changing driveshafts? If so I am a happy camper. Thank you sir, you are the man!!!! |

Yes, If you are using a 9 inch tailshaft and the V-8 in the holes closest to the Rad. support. Driveshaft and all should work just fine but right now it sounds like they used 6 cylinder engine stands you will have to get V-8 stands for everything to bolt up correctly. You will also need a automatic crossmember and need to remove the manual trans. crossmember. Hope this helps! Tim

Re: Turbo 350 tailshaft ? will 9 " fit in truck
I had the guy measure the transmission ( which turned out to be a Turbo 400) and it measures 34 1/2 " , I know that the imput spline will be different, but now will I need to shorten my drive shaft to work in my Suburban?
