73-87 front lift springs on a 67-72 HELP

Whos done it here and how did ya do it??? Pics? I just recently started working on my 69 chevy that im changing from 2wd to 4wd. I was gonna use the parts that diy4x sells but its required that you use 52" rear springs from the 73-87 era. Problem with that is your limited to 8" springs and I wanna go 12". The other bummer is I have my K5 here with a pretty much new 12" superlift kit on it but the front springs only measure 45" eye to eye. I was looking at the diy4x kit and was thinking I could use the left mount on the right and right mount on the left. Im not running a steering box cause its going full hydro so I could just add some extra bracing from the mount to the frame cause thats where the frame kicks up. Whadda ya think??? thanks

I am getting ready to do this with my 69. I am using 4 inch springs. longer shackles and a 1" zero rate from offroad design to center the wheel back up. So it can be done.

My thoughts were to put the fenders on the cab. Find center of the wheel wells and drop a plumbob to the floor and mark each point on both sides. Draw a line from one point to the other then plumbob off the frame to the line and mark the frame. Then just center up the axle using the center lines on the frame.

Yah I am looking at putting some big springs on my K5. Have you figured anything else out yet? I have the superlift 6inch springs right now but would like more to clear my 38's.

On a 73-87 era 4x4 the stock front spring is flat at best, the stock rear has about 10 inches of arch in it. So if you put a stock rear spring in the front with the diy4x kit it is like having 10 inches of lift. Check out the pictures I posted in HOME MADE LIFT KIT. they are of some home made spring mounting brackets with 4 inches of lift I made.

I put 52" on the front of mine, it is about 5" of lift, I had 4" 73-87 fronts before and it sits about an inch higher. No where near 10". Remember when they were in the rear of a truck, they did not have an engine on them, and you also remove the overload spring.
