anyone made their own blocks for leafspring rear
I was wanting to put in a 2 in. lowering block on leaf spring rear,axle is flipped already.The aluminum ones crack after awhile I was told,so was wondering if someone made their own out of steel tubing and what they used for pins

Hmmm, Seems if they did there wouldn't be tons of manufacturers making/selling them. They are torqued tight between the perch and spring with the U-bolts, About the only way I know of for one to crack under normal driving is if the U-bolts loosen or are not tightened well enough. Even then I've never heard of one cracking but that's just me.

It should be easy to do, but I have never heard of blocks cracking.

I banned the cast aluminum blocks when I was responsible for the rules at a local circle track. Too many of them were failing. The billet aluminum (solid) blocks had zero failure.
For street use I’d have no problem at all using billet aluminum blocks. Matter of fact I have 2” blocks on my truck now. To answer your original question, yes you could build them out of steel tubing. I've seen guys do just that. They used a cut off section of grade 8 bolt (the proper diameter) welded to the block as a locating pin.

To lift we used square tubing and made locator pins. Worked fine on 4x4's and I bet the reverse could be done in ur case.
