dana 44 8 lug upgrade
i have two dana 44 front axles
-6 lug disc brakes -8 lug drum brakes i would like to make a 8 lug with disc brakes what is required? can i do it with only these axles i have searched the junkyards for a 8 lug d44 w/discs for a few months and can't find one

You can convert the 6 lug dics to a 8 lug dics with pearts off of a 10 bolt 8 lug.The drum d44 is a open or closed knuckle.

both axles are open knuckle
and i can't find any 8 lug front axles we are picked dry

You need:
3/4 ton spindle 3/4 backing plate/disc caliper mount. 3/4 hub/discs 3/4 lockouts Use your 1/2 ton calipers (and pads I believe.) I think you can use 1/2 spindle lock/washers. I don't know if the 3/4 ton drum spindles are the same or the hub for that matter. You'll still need the backing plate...it is different from the 1/2 ton. And, you'll need the caliper from the 1/2 ton.
