my 66/71 project
Well i bought this beauty a few years ago to use as a work truck. but after falling in love with the looks of the 60-66 style and recently taking a liking to the rat rod/hot rod look I have decided to take this good old work truck as my next project. It has a 71 chassis and the matching long bed, but as you can see a 66 cab. I was able to acquire a rather beet up 66 long bed to start work on. if any one has a decent shape 63-66 long bed they are willing to part with this would make things a lot easier on me! But plans are simple enough... a little tlc, fix some rust holes in the rockers and floor boards clean it up. Drop it a few inches (any ideas? still want to use it for what it is.... a truck) and put the matching bed on.... paint ideas are simple and cheep.. satin or flat rat black or a light primer green... Ive seen it on a few trucks and looks GOOD. big white walls and painted rims... cheep easy and looks like a million bucks. This truck was one of the best 800 dollar investments I ever made. Tell me what you think and any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks

Welcome aboard, sounds like you have a plan. Check out the classifieds for a bed and keep us updated on your build.

Thanks. I think it is going to be pretty tough though due to the lack of support around here. I am having a lot of trouble locating a long wheel base bed... fleet or step side. if you know any one in north Alabama or the Tennessee valley that has a bed they want to get rid of please let me know and spread the word.

Good luck in your hunt for a bed. Keep an eye out on Craigslist, one might turn up there. Otherwise just keep your eyes peeled whenever you're out and about and you might spot one.
