SW Oil Pressure Sending Unit....wont fit
I am 1 click away from cranking the beast!....but my Stewart Warner electric oil pressure gauge's sending unit will not fit because of the intake manifold. Now I see the tiny print on the instructions that say:
"NOTE: In tight areas, stainless steel braided tubing can be used to remote mount the electric sender, providing both an electrical ground and pressure to the sender." Anyone know where to find this??? UGH Cant find it on google to save my life and Im about to tired and afraid Ill make a mistake and frag the engine taking a short cut. G

I know it sounds tacky, but is there enough room to put a pipe nipple in the block to get the sending unit above the manifold.
You'd also need a coupling to attach the sending unit to the nipple.

Or you could use a 90deg fitting on the pipe nipple. That should get your clearance.
Isn't there also a pressure port on the side of the block above the filter? Maybe that's just BBC, I'm not sure.

Most switches are mounted using a brass pipe nipple and then connected, which will allow for the ground necessary for the electrical circuiit. I use NAPA or my local Farm Supply store for these items.

Re: SW Oil Pressure Sending Unit....wont fit
Yep, the aftermarket oil pressure senders are big and will not fit directly to the manifold without some stand off/adapter. I have used straight, 45 and 90* fittings based on my clearance. I have pointed them sideway to the block and pointing more at the #1 cylinder.
On my new engine, it has a port above the oil filter, so I think I may use that this time around. Use whatever means you need to. Never understood why the aftermarket senders are so big compared to OEM (newer model one, not the pre '73).
