S-10 suspension questions

Hey guys, couple questions right quick

I am planning on throwing a S-10 frame under my Ford F-1 & I want it LOW
So here are my questions: I heard that they have torsions & springs up front, I think I will only have to lower it 2 or 3 inches in the front & no more than 4 in the front

What is the cheapest way I can do this ??? turn the torsions & ad blocks in the rear ???

I will eventually get drop spindles, but thats a lil further in the future

What year S-10? 4x4's might be torsion; 2wd's are typical GM unequal length a-arms, short spindles, & coils. 82-93 2wd S-10's have the same suspension as G-bodies (78-up Malibu's, Regals, Cutlasses).

I don't want to sound rude, but please don't put an S10 frame under your F-1. It's really just the wrong choice. And I am not saying this because of the Chevy in a Ford, Ford in a Chevy dilemma. The suspension system really isn't the best design to begin with, or at least I don't like it. Two, it's just an ugly frame, the stock F-1 frame looks much better. Three, the wheelbase is off, and the track width is wrong. The front suspension looks very narrow under the F-1. Some people run wheel spacers to correct this, but this affects your scrub in a negative way, and causes tire wear that you really shouldn't have. The S10 has a 55" or 56" track width, and the F1 has a 60" track width.

Also, it really seems like a lot more work than just doing an axle flip out back with a small C-notch, and a Mustang II up front. You can piece together your own MII kit for about $1K these days, or just buy one for a bit more that's made to fit the F-1. That sounds like a lot less work than making all new bod mounts, and adapting everything over to the S10 frame, and modifying it to correct the wheel base. Plus you will have a correct track width. The wheels are sucked in enough as it is on an F-1 to begin with.

I am an F100 owner. I've done a fair bit of research. I decided to build my own frame in the end. I once owned one with an S10 clip. I hated it.

Hop on this site http://www.s10forum.com/forum/ and under the suspension setup there is all the ways to drop an S10.

And they should be coil front, leaf rear. Possibly measure OD of spring and use circle track springs (cheap) for the front with drop spindles and pull a few leaves out of the back and use blocks to get low.

Or air bagging isn't that expensive for the S10 frames...

I would agree w/TM's on this one..... Seems like a bunch of extra work to go w/the S-10 set-up vs. the flip out back & a readily available front crossmember 'update' kit.

Yes, SCOTI the 4x4s are torsion bar front suspension.....but it is still un-equal length control arm.
