67 cst?
Hi Guys, I just bought what I believe is a 67 CST. It has buckets with the center arm rest and storage, factory air, p/s,V-8 posi hd cooling etc. The prior owner started to do a half ass resto and painted over the glove box sticker. Is there any way of telling from the vin if it's a real cst or a common place for the build sheet to be. The truck is all original except for the engine. Thanks for the help.

Re: 67 cst?
Build sheet would be folded up and tucked into the back of or underneath the seat. Good luck finding it there after 42 years! There is no way to tell with the VIN.
It is probably a CST if it has the buddy buckets, as you describe

Re: 67 cst?
if it is all original and a cst, there should be cst emblems on the doors right under the window i'm fairly sure. the options don't mean it is a cst necessarily.

Re: 67 cst?
Is the sticker only painted over? If so, you may be able to remove the paint enough to read what's on the sticker. A lot of the stickers I have seen had a clear plastic film over htem. Of course after 40 years someone may have removed it.
Once you figure out what's on it, have boardmember chipflyer make you a new sticker.

Re: 67 cst?
It has the emblems on the doors. They are weathered enough that I believe they are original. I will try and remove the paint and not damage the sticker. Thanks for all the help.

Re: 67 cst?
In`67 the bucket seats weren`t an option on CSTs,they were standard.I`d see if you couls strip the paint on the spec sheet*.It may not fog up too bad.The difference between the CST and custom would be minimum and alot of years have given opportunity for changes/upgrades.Do you have any pictures we can examine? How unmolested/original does it seem?I`m judging from how you`ve presented this and your avatar picture you`re no stranger to the collector car hobby.
*I`m hoping it`s laminated.Otherwise it will take some real caution.I wonder how old the paint is and if more paint would help soften it.

Re: 67 cst?
I don't think i have ever seen a 67 spid with plastic over it. I believe it is just paper. I think you will wreck it if you try what you are thinking, but what have you got to lose? Good luck.

x 2. If it is not covered by the mylar overlay, you will destroy it. Ask me how I know...

Re: 67 cst?
I forgot that about`67 SPIDs,no mylar.Next hope is build sheet in seat back.
I`ve never done the GM resto packet thing.Do I understand correctly that you give them your VIN and model# and they give your truck`s info?

Re: 67 cst?
no, they give generic info covering the model run, nothing specific to your truck.
They only do that in canada |

Re: 67 cst?
Bought the truck in NewMexico and drove it home 2500 miles!Stopped at Summit on the way home. My Other 67 has the sticker and it doesn't have a mylar or plastic covering. Special K, I have been around cars etc. for a long time. It's my total obsession. The Goat I did a Frame off and have had for 13 years. I have always wanted one of these trucks since a little kid and riding in gramps 72 c-20. The truck specific stuff is new to me but I'm learning and appreciate all the help from all the members. I can't thank everyone enough. I'm A member of a Pontiac site and I can't be bothered to use it. To many clowns and nobody try's to help each other. I am going to try and attach some pic's of the truck. If they don't come up they are in a album under my avatar. Thanks again to all that replyed.

Re: 67 cst?
The truck looks to me to be very original. The dark blue exterior color is still on the firewall (any idea on the code or name?)and it still has a assembly line chalk mark on the fire wall marked A/C. The interior is definitely the original color and can be seen up under the dash and also under the windshield rubber gasket and other hard to reach areas. The bottom is rust free and there are still some chalk marks and numbers on the frame on the inside of the frame rails. The Seat covers and carpet have definitely been changed.it currently has a 305 and th400 3.73 and posi. I am going to start digging this weekend and see if I can find the build sheet. Would be cool if it is a real CST. Either way the truck is absolutly rust free and in incredible shape. Just the ticket to frame off restore. The pic's don't do it any justice.

Re: 67 cst?
look at the chalk on the firewall again, see if you can locate z84 anywhere... that's the CST option number. I've seen it between the bed and cab too, sometimes on the bed, sometimes on the cab.
Looking at the pics, it looks like it was given a make over once before... those are aftermarket mirror arms, and mounted too high, but otherwise, looks equipped about right for a CST. Bummer the original horn button is gone. They are worth some coin when in real good shape... plus, they just look cool |

Re: 67 cst?
I believe it`s a CST by the interior.Only CSTs were painted body color in`67.You hop in a 42 year old truck and run it home.Yeah, you`re an old car guy.You know there`s nothing that can`t be dealt with to get it home. You`ll be a truck pro before you know it.Nice find,BTW.No attitudes here, except some guy named Longhorner,Longsum*****,or something like that.Just nod your head and make him think you agree, say something about Mt Dew,and he`s harmless.
My good friend is a Pontiac nut and says there`s some real tools on that site. A`67CST and a`64 Goat. What will be your next 1st year ride?I know...you just got this fer cryin`outloud.

Re: 67 cst?
Did 67 CST's come with a painted glove box to match interior? I thought they were all the "camera case" finish in black regardless. If your truck came with the optional 327, it would have had a choke delete plate, all other 67 engines had manual chokes. Here is the interior of our CST "clone", note the chrome centered knobs, correct horn button, choke delete plate, ebrake handle cover, chrome accents on pedals, and what I think is the correct glove box finish. Also a small window A/C cab.
Where in MA are you?

Re: 67 cst?
Andy,I think it`s my turn lately...and I apologize in advance as well as for all the past...Now,what wise crack should I make now?
Jeff, yes i do believe. But the non-CSTs in`67 had the siverish and goldiah colored interior paint(fawn and ?)as did prior years going way back.`68 was the firsy year all interiors got matched to exterior. Man,that`s nice!

Re: 67 cst?
I had a good trip. I changed a couple of tires and had to also change the waterpump on the side of the road. The only major work was Intake gaskets, it sucked in a piece on the runner for #7 and needed to be changed. Did that in the parking lot of autozone. It's all part of the fun in my eye's. 2500 miles in three days and really no major problems I was happy. Longhorn I do have that center cap on the steeringwheel in my c-20. The glove box door is painted on the outside as is the cluster bezel all by the previous owner. My c-20 has the door black with silver surround. I was at a swap meet this weekend and bought a original sales brochures and option books. One shows a actual picture of a CST interior the same color as mine and the it all looks the same. Also stated is CST has extra mastic sound deadner on the floor and fire wall. This truck has it but I would think they all would. My other 67 has it as well. Any one else have it? I will look for the code on the firewall. I think I'm SOL on the paint coming off the sticker.
