draglink welding
Is the center link cast? Would it be OK to weld on it? I need to make a new center link and I was thinking of cutting the ends of the stock one, and useing a piece of 1 1/4 DOM.

Re: draglink welding
I know drag-links can be welded on because I've seen pics on the net where people have modified theirs. I also know (from researching this mod) it's not acceptable in the eye's of many state DPS officers.

Re: draglink welding
I think I'm gonna go a different way with it. I'm gonna use all heim joints instead.

Re: draglink welding
I would just run rod ends like you said, and build one from scratch. It will look better anyways.
But I have modified a few. Most of them are cast steel as far as I know, the ones I did where. I basically clean them (sand blast) and then grind them until they are smooth and the cast texture is gone. I bevel everything pretty deep, and pre heat them with a torch and TIG them with a 312 stainless rod.
