396 in a 69 stepside
Hey guys ive just signed up as a new member here and was wandering if i could get some help or advice or just talk some bs.
I got a 69 stepside i just bought to restore and got to thinkin about a buddy of mine that owes me a favor so i talked to him and ill be pickin up a 396bb in a few days. I was wandering if any of yall have done this ive seen a lot of old 454 stuffed in them but never seen a 396. I was wandering about motor mounts if i can buy some for this truck or if i just need to go ahead and fab something up. any help would be awsome or any tips or tricks or pics with this done. ill post some pics as soon as i go take a few. |

No difference to install 396 vs. 454. They are externally the same. 396's were a factory option in '69.

C-series `69 Pickups and Suburbans were available w/396,so was`68.I bought a`69 CST/20 stepside with 396 once.

I used to have a 72 with a 454 and ever since then ive always wanted another big block truck. So i bought a 69 that is in great shape for this build. I was also wandering what is it going to take to convert it from a 3 on the tree to a automatic im thinking a 700r4 or th350.
