Re: Calling all LS Motor Transplants!
biggest issue with the LT1 is the opti. plus what is the cost of them, we get the 5.3/6.0 complete for cheaper than the LT1s....

Re: Calling all LS Motor Transplants!
I did a 2001 5.3 4l60e swap absolutly loved it but it had a bit of piston slap when cold.(GM tightend the toerances in '03 to remidy this) so I used it as an excuse to swap in a 6.0 With a z06 cam. I never had to open the hood with either motors other than oil changes. Seems like I get about 15 a gallon.(had a 2001 2.2 four cyl s-10 that got 16mpg lol). The truck has much more power than it has suspention or brakes so it can get tense really quick. Another 50hp and a steeper gear and it will be perfect.
All in all it is now a bolt in deal that fits amazingly well and I think it is as cheap as freshning up your original drive line and the end product is ten fold. |

Re: Calling all LS Motor Transplants!
IMO, the LT1 wasn't around very long... If I were to do it, I'd go with LSx

Re: Calling all LS Motor Transplants!
and from a tuning standpoint, the LS computers and the software used is ALOT better and 'easier' to use.

Get an external fuel pump (E2000 is what I will be using). And then depending on the fuel rails you have you will either have the FPR on the rail OR you will need to use the vette regulator/filter. And for the return line I will just drill/tap/fitting a return hose in the filler neck. I am pretty sure that will work. Stock Fuel level gauge will work just fine too. |
