Will it work??

Hey guys,
Looking for some advice from the tire experts here. I have a set of 17" centerline wheels. Fronts are 17x8 with 255/60 rubber. Rears are 17x10 with 275/60 rubber. Tires need to be replaced soon. I want to go with a smaller set both front and rear. I know someone that has a set of 235/55/17s for sale. CHEAP. My question is will these tires fit on the 10" wide rear wheels?? I'm thinking they may be too narrow but not sure! Whatda ya think??

235s are too narrow for 10" wheels. The sidewall will be splayed out too much.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I want to come down about 2 inches in diameter. The 275/60s are 30" diameter. What size tire can I use on those in order to get closer to 28"?

Re: Will it work??

I'm not sure what the diameter is in inches, but I used to have a '93 with 17" Centerlines. I ran 255/45r17's in the front with 8's, and and 275/40r17's out back with 10's. It was the perfect combo...

Run 255/50-17's on front and 275/50-17's on the rear. Look at Nitto tire. (the 450 series) These tires should be 27" and 28" tall.

other than looks, is there another reason for the smaller front tire size? is there a clearance issue or could you run a 275/50/17 front and rear?

Re: Will it work??

you said you had 8" fronts and 10" rears so it not like you can rotate them.

its the look 275 on 8" wheel will bubble out and 275 on a 10" will be pretty strait so for consistancy it might look funny with the rears side walls strait and the fronts bubbled out.
as long as you don't have some crazy offset you can run 275 in front no problem.
