anyone running a V6?

I found a 53 chevy about 2 hours away and it`s got a Buick V6. I`m guessing it`sa 3.8 but I don`t know yet. I`ve seen a few trucks lately running Buick V6`s so it must be a popular swap. Any input?

Re: anyone running a V6?

There are several guys running the 4.3 V6 cuz it will bolt up to a 700R4 as well as the other usuals. I'm not familiar with the buick V6 but it might be the same story. Many of the 4.3 guys are ones who did an S10 conversion and just kept the 4.3. It's basicaly a 350 with the back 2 cylinders cut off. It's a great engine, plenty of power for these old trucks. I have a 92 GMC Safari van that has 200k on it and still going strong.

Chances are its a 231, or a 225 odd fire, but that is doubtful. They did bolt up to the TH400's and possbly the 700r4 GM transmissions. Maybe its just what the guy had laying around the garage when his original motor blew. LOL

Agreed. The 225 "Dauntless" V6 is a good little motor. Had one in a '68 CJ5.
