Re: time for a new rear end

my dad had some drivetrain issues with his 87 suburban 2wd, so we swapped the rear axle from his 84 into it before we junked the 84. the 87 came from texas and so had a 3.08 final drive. 3.73 gearing makes the most out of that 350tbi. and it is still good on the highway when in overdrive. definitely a good idea to change trans and rear end oil every 50,000 miles (or sooner if you tow a lot). my dad had synthetic gear oil put in because they used the best pieces from the two axles.
