Any Production number guesses?

Just wondering what the ratio of Chevs to GMCs there are in this era. I know with my 71 GMC I have been told the ratio is 5 chevs to 1 GMC. Gotta guess these are even fewer. Any Info apriciated, just wondering how rare my new addition is. 61Longstep3/4 ton

Re: Any Production number guesses?

I would say the ratio is about the same in this era also. The interesting thing about GMC is the heavier the truck, the ratio tends to reverse itself over Chevrolet. GMC sold more heavy trucks 5 ton and up than Chevrolet in all years. The way the production numbers work is the lighter the vehicle more are made. The heavier the vehicle, less are made. So the 1/2 longbed was the most common and had the higher production numbers. The 1 ton pickup is a lot less common than the 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. Also, most 1 tons are chassis cab with dual wheels, not single wheel pickups. In 61, GMC made about 74,000 total trucks, while Chevrolet made around 340,000 total trucks. Most of the Chevrolets were 1 1/2 ton and below.

Re: Any Production number guesses?

Thanks for the info factorystock. (And correction for everyone else, factory informed me in another thread that my truck is a 1 ton, the seller thought it was 3/4.) So would this make my truck fairly rare then? It was definitly worth 550 if so.
