Brake booster vacuum source - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I just added a brake booster. Where should I hook up the vacuum hose? The 2 sources at the carb base are used for the distributer advance, and pcv valve. Do I need a T or is there another place to hookup. Thanks.

You can buy an carb spacer block with a vacuum port.

directly from the manifold. on the 350 there's a port you can use that is directly in back of the carb and in front of the distributor. i'm not familar with 6cyl so i dont know about that

The port on the back up the carb is where the pcv valve is plugged in. Do most just T off of that?

NO NOT OFF THE CARB OFF THE MANIFOLD!!

Anywhere you're getting full manifold vacuum would be fine. If there's not a port on the manifold directly (in which case I'd be slightly surprised if it's a V8) you should be fine T'ing in on the one on the back of the carb.

There is nothign wrong with going from the carb.
On the intake there should be a plug somewhere with a 1/2 inch (or so) pipe plug, get a fitting for that if you have no carb provisions.

Sorry cdowns. It would help if I would have read your post closer. Yes I do have the manifold plug you described. On my way to get a fitting.

I say go to the junkyard and find the "t" behind the carb, on a car/truck with power brakes. Install that into your manifold.
