Re: Stepped trailing arms
Those are sweet. I have to use my new 69 dollar blocks for a while before I can justify getting these from you.

Re: Stepped trailing arms
Cool. What else do you have planned? Some speed holes would look sweet running the length of them. Also, are you using inserts on the u-bolt holes? If you're using bags, a circle plate welded in place would be good. Super nice work!

Re: Stepped trailing arms
Thanks guys I appreciate all the feed back, the feed back early on helped with the final overall look.
The holes for the U bolts are sleeved, I only welded the bottom side the top of the sleeve is compressed against the inside of the top of the tube. I left the tails of the arms long so I could intergrate a custom panhard bar and shock mounts. Speed holes are in the plans but I'm going to line them with some thin wall DOM to give it a solid look thats why I blended the front cap that way (not that anyone will see it once it's on the truck) Now I need to find some 1/2 ton components to bring it all together. Here are some more pics of the process. |

Re: Stepped trailing arms
So are you going to be making more sets to sell?

Re: Stepped trailing arms
One hundred million dollars
That wasn't my intention when I started out I just wanted to do something cool and original on my truck. My biggest issue in terms of selling anything is the liability aspect of manufacturing. |

Hmmm, good point. How about if I just promise not to sue you if they break

Re: Stepped trailing arms
??? Nothing new with the arms I'm still trying to find a rear end and front suspension components to switch from 3/4 to 1/2 ton with 4/6 static drop I thought about using my 65 as a donor, hit pyp on their 1/2 price days and every other week, I guess I'm just too picky I know Vintage Chevy Trucks is my one stop shop. I was under the truck a few weeks ago and decided that I totally hate the stock xmember here's a rendition of my vision of my xmember also the arm with speed holes the new xmember wont be triangulated like the rendition it will have a deeper cross section instead.

Re: Stepped trailing arms
Nice renderings. You know if you added a couple of angles to that crossmember it would be a bowtie...

Re: Stepped trailing arms
Thanks guys, I like that it resembles a Bowtie maybe I'll build a custom frame with A symmetrical flanges to get the angles right I have all the parts but wont have the time to build it for 3-4 weeks I'll post some pics when I do.
