Might need to sell....WIW?
Hey guys, I don't post here much but I did semi-introduce my truck in this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=350355
Anyway, I love the truck but have reached a point where money could potentially be more important in my near-future. I'm wondering what you think of its value as it has some great features, and some not-so-great attributes. The good: Drivetrain - 2003 LQ9 with approx 45000 miles 2004 4L80e with approx 40000 miles Doug Thorley LS swap headers LS1 Fans Brand new custom driveshaft Resealed 12bolt posi with either 3.42 or 3.73 Custom 2.5" exhaust over and through crossmembers with dual Magnaflows ECE Stainless under-bed fuel tank with tank mounted Walbro 255 fuel pump Braided Stainless fuel feed and return lines. Suspension- Bagged front and rear C notch in rear 2.5"Drop spindles with ECE disc brake conversion Shock relocators new KYB shocks ECE Adjustable Panhard bar ECE extreme drop crossmember with new bushings 5 gallon air tank with water trap Viair 480 compressor Accuair Air manifold Brand new Firestone Firehawk tires Misc- Pioneer AVIC N4 7" flip out display with DVD, GPS, ipod connectivity and XM/Sirius ready. Infinity 6.5" in kick panels Hidden battery disconnect switch Autopage C3 vehicle alarm system with two-way remote. Expandable to control remote start, door locks, and 6 other channels. 1 mile range Old school aftermarket AC. Intact, needs simple wiring and a couple of hoses made. Seat is in good condition. Body- New front fenders, core support, and inner fenders. The decent All wiring in the truck is new. However, it was meant as a somewhat temporary and relatively messy setup as I was planning on a cab swap. Everything works and is reliable, but isn't aesthetically appealing. I haven't dug all that deep, but the bed appears to be somewhat decent. Hood is straight, but has a few pin-hole rust spots at the front. The bad I had pretty much written the cab and doors off as a loss. I'd count on needing floor repair, corners, bottoms of doors, A-pillars, firewall repairs, etc. It made for a great driver and could possibly be fixed with the correct talent and equipment. I'm sure I've left out a few things. I've been driving the truck for 3 months and it runs flawlessly. It's fast to boot! I started the build January 1 of this year and finished it the first week of April, so everything is very new. I'm not set on selling it quite yet, but if I do, what would you ask for it? Thanks Before radio etc |

Re: Might need to sell....WIW?
I`d almost want to hear what you are hoping to hear before saying. You`ve done mostly all the hard stuff and it`s a fantastic foundation to build off of or just roll as is for a good runnin`sleeper not tryin`to out do anybody(I like that).$6,500 pops into my head for whatever reason.I`m looking at what you have in it.Closer to $5,000 might be more realistic, but who knows these days.i`d not sell it unless you get what you need. That`s for sure. It`s too nice to give away.

I can tell you what I do. Search eBay completed items for something close to what you have. If it's in a location close to you, that's even better.
I'm a strong believer in what QKENUF4U said; a truck, car, house, anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. And, eBay completed items will tell you just that.

Sorry to hear you have to back out of the project. I think Tim is right about the prices though, and definitely check Ebay for a comparison. The main thing keeping the sale back would be the economy at this time.

Re: Might need to sell....WIW?
Location is everything....locally there are lots of these trucks in the NC/SC area so the price would be relatively low(in the $4500 range)
Ebay might would bring you more maybe %15 after fees. A board like this will get you the most IMO, but I think u r still looking at $5200-5700 as it sits.

Re: Might need to sell....WIW?
Oh and remember...it is always worth what you can sell it for.
In the current ecomomy decide the least you would take for it and set that price and let everyone know you are firm on your price. Don't fall into the trap of asking a price u would like to get and 3 months later taking a price you settled on. You rarely will see all your money out of these trucks when you start modding them and don't finish them.

Re: Might need to sell....WIW?
Thanks for the input guys.
Special-K, I think you hit the nail on the head with what I was going for with this truck. Nothing too outlandish, simple, not too purdy, reliable, and fast. Thanks for the advice on searching for completed items, I didn't know you could do that. The motor is out of a first-gen SS Silverado, transmission out of an 04 2500HD with the LQ4. I have closer to $10k in it, unfortunately. I was going to ask $7k and see what happened, but this story has a happy ending. I told my boss I was leaving my job next month and told him I was also selling my truck. He offered to buy the truck for whatever I ask for it (withing reason of course) and sell it back to me when money isn't so tight. Great guy, I guess all of that hard work over 7 years is coming to fruition in another way. |
