junkyard find

I went to one of the local yards in town yesterday to see what I could find. Something of intrest was a GMC Travel Quest (suburban?). It looks like a custom van with all the wood trim, wood center console, and rear lights. The interior was all complete and in GREAT condition except a little wear on the drivers seat and a few dash cracks . I also found a few center consoles, one in exelent condition, another set of burb buckets, and some very nice dash bezels. I would love to have the interior for my 85' Suburban Good Times (although it's not been such good times with it lately) but I don't have the funds for it right now. The guy told me he would let the front seats, wood console, and rear seats go for $200. I figure he might let the rest of the interior go for another $100. Does this seem like a good deal to you guys? I also found two sets of dually fenders that I would like to get for my 80' short bed, but he wants $400 a pair for them. I don't know what these should be going for but $400 seems rediculous! So are these custom suburbans pretty common? Should I snatch this stuff up if it's still there? Oh yeah, sorry there's no pics. I still don't have a digital camera.

Re: junkyard find

I'm located way out here in Del Rio. It's about 150 miles west of San Antonio down Hwy. 90.

Re: junkyard find

I've decided not to put anymore money into the suburban and my truck. I plan on selling both.

Re: junkyard find

I had no intentions of keeping the suburban to begin with. I have replaced some parts and decided to go ahead and sell it. The truck has no title but a good 350 and newly rebuilt th350. I was going to use the drivetrain but just don't need it right now. My daughters will be starting school in August and I will be taking them 30 miles to and 30 miles from school. I need a small car for this not a truck or burb. If that's lame then I guess that you can call me the King of Lame. My girls will always come first and there is no shame in that. As far as selling off the parts to you guys, if you want them come to Del Rio Tx , but you need to buy them whole. I live on a military base and won't be able to part them out.
