Look what showed up at my place today
-
No, it isn't mine, but I wish it was... A guy from here in town bought it off of craigslist. If you look close at the door you can see it says, BEAR Heating & Air, Norman, Ok. He was told it was originally a fire department vehicle and the aluminum pockets in the rear floor sure look like they could be for a gurney. It is a nice truck except the wiring needs some help. I told him that was no problem..... I am going to help him get the safety issues taken care of so he can drive it. It will take a couple of posts to get the pics up. LockDoc

Last ones. It has a 350/TH350 combo in it.

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
That's like the most rust free (unrestored) burb I think I've ever seen!
Now it just needs a 68 clip and a drop!

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
Wish something like that would show up at my place. Looks like a clean starting point. I agree, 68 clip and drop it.

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
put me in for the 68 nose and a slam vote.
Seems odd that tine metal inside is not red. 67/68 was like that, but never seen a 69 done this way. Whats the last 6 of the VIN? I'm willing to bet it is a VERY early 69. Plus it has the 67/68 style glove box door. Very neat truck indeed. |

Or over here to SC!!!
Unrestored/unmodded 'burbs normally don't excite me too much, but damn is that thing nice!

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
It looks to be in real good shape for it's age Leon. I vote to put some REAL tires on it and drive it everyday as is. Those are entirely too small for that size vehicle but I understand if that's all he had to put on it. Drop it someday down the road.
No wait! Are we voting?

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
That looks solid! Excuse my ignorance, but assuming that the original paint color is red, is it unusual that it has a blue steering column/wheel? Or is that an indication that it was swapped from a different truck?

Andy, here is the VIN. You can't see much on the SPID, just a couple of things on the right side. Those are the tires and wheels that came with it. The guy is planning on using bigger tires. There was a 4x4 Burb frame & shell that came with the red one. he is thinking about using the overhead A/C setup out of it. ------------------------------------------------------- Quote:

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
hmmmm, #27143 on the second assembly line (8xxxxx means it was on the second line) But there's no telling when that second line was started. Its my understanding that they would shut it down or slow it down when not needed. So there is no real telling if it is an early one or not. Unless the stickerr is in the door jamb on the drivers door below the latch assembly, but most of those are gone by now.
Either way, it's a real clean looking 'ole burb. |

Re: Look what showed up at my place today
I'm guessin that the original paint was white. Then went through some color changes, and a black rattle can went to work on the floors and inside panels.
Good to see another solid burb rollin around though!
