Does this bearing look OK?
I had my steering wheel off today trouble shooting a a turn signal problem and I noticed the upper column bearing didn't look right. It appears to be missing at least one ball bearing. Is it supposed to look this way or does it need replacing?

Re: Does this bearing look OK?
To the best of my knowledge it is supposed to be missing one.Kinda like the old skateboard wheels back in the 70's.But dont take my word for it,I'd wait for someone else to chime in that knows better.

Re: Does this bearing look OK?
this bearing is an open bearing with no skirt so you won't be able to readily see the balls.
your bearing looks correct to me.

Re: Does this bearing look OK?
I had the same question when I had a column apart some years ago. I decided it was normal since it didn't come apart so they couldn't really escape.
