Advise on lowering
I have swapped out the torsion front for a 73-87 front spindle to spindle, I just ordered 2 1/2 inch Mcgaughy drop spindles, and 2 inch drop springs, and ordered 5 inch drop springs in the rear.
I have 20x8 1/2 with 275x40 front and 275x45 rear. anybody have pictures with a 4/6 or close to it with 20's? hoping this will all fit?

Re: Advise on lowering
should fit, there is some adjustment left to right as the PO I dont think perfectly centered the rear axle. we may have to roll the lip a little but other than that should be OK. I will let you all know, parts should be in midweek, hopefully next weekend it will be done. will post some pics

Re: Advise on lowering
I am doing some research for a friend of mine with a '64. I have a '73-87 front x-member and suspension setup that he'd like to put in his '64. Any pointers, tips, tricks? Is it an easy swap? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Chad

Re: Advise on lowering
yeah the 73 and newer front crossmember will bolt right in, you have to oblong 2 holes in the frame for the x member and you have to drill 2 new holes for the idler arm on the passanger side, If you dont feel like oblonging those 2 holes you can just swap control arms the will bolt right on 2 upper stud and 2 lower ubolts 6 nuts total each side.DONE.

Re: Advise on lowering
Ive got the same setup....64c10 with a 73+ front cross member. To lower it what are the pros \ cons of doing just shorter springs or just drop spindles vs both????

Re: Advise on lowering
well to me , they both lower it 3 inches
if you do 1 or the other it makes the truck sit where it should factory if you did both it would look good! 81 crossmember 3 inch springs and 3 inchs spindles

Re: Advise on lowering
hey, how 'bout some quick advice for a newbie? a 63 c-10 with stock front suspension. I have Chevelle springs in rear, seems to have dropped it about 3 inches. I'm gonna cut the front springs, I think one coil cut will drop it about 2 inches, but here's my question, cutting the front springs, will I have to have it aligned? what happens to caster/camber?

Re: Advise on lowering
yes you need to remove the springs, and I would strongly advise you to cut off the bottom, the top of the spring has a smaller coil that locates the spring in the upper pocket...
Our '66 has a mid 80's front cross member, I cut one coil and 3 inched of the next coil off, I didn't do a before and after measurement, but I guess-timate the drop the be around 2.5 inches. Had jeep coils on the rear and it gave me a nice, but not too much, rake.

Re: Advise on lowering
Here is my truck with 20's. The tires were 285/50/20. They didnt rub in the front or the rear. Since then I put 255/45/20. I lowered it 5/7.
